One of the best decisions we made after downsizing and purchasing a home in Asheville last year was to retain the services of Jennifer Smith Design. We needed renovations designed to maximize the efficient use of our square footage while preserving the charm and character of our 1938 house. Our home needed updating and presents lots of design challenges with some oddly shaped rooms. I knew Jennifer was a great designer when she started by examining pictures of the interior of our former home to give herself a sense of our taste and style. She wanted to follow our design preferences while staying true to the cottage style of our home. Jennifer describes working on our home designs as a “puzzle” blending our mid-century modern tastes with the layout and interior of a 1930s home. In completing our kitchen renovation, Jennifer was highly organized, detail oriented, and efficient in her use of time. She works with a cadre of contractors and vendors who have reasonable prices and quality that meets her exacting standards. She was able to modernize our kitchen, adding more storage and utility, without compromising its charm. She has a great eye for color and textures, using her skills to help us throughout the house with furniture placement, wall hangings, and room color. We are currently working with Jennifer in redesigning our bathroom and look forward to the same great results as with our kitchen.
